FREEDOM FROM FOOD

Many people are interested to find out what my nutrition philosophy is which is fair enough if they are looking for guidance. But when it comes to what nutrition, I like to keep it pure and simple and that means;

FREEDOM - freedom around food and everything that goes into our body.

What? No strict low carb, paleo, wholefood, low sugar, no sugar, fasting or air/water diets – NO!

Growing up I was a dancer, which brought about an acute awareness of my body and how it looked and as a result, brought about all sorts of unhealthy relationships with food (restrictions, control, bingeing, the whole gamut). It was miserable, and food was so deeply intertwined with my self-worth and desperate need to be seen. That aside, I have worked hard towards FREEING MYSELF FROM FOOD.

YES, being FREE to choose anything and everything. No diets, no doctrines just FREEDOM and conscious choices, and OMG it’s liberating. 

Have I completely nailed it? Not at all. Sometimes I find myself feeling out of control and then I realise it’s being driven by lack, fear, or control and I dip out.  The first step on the journey is becoming deeply tuned into your inner voice and ignoring the NOISE, the narky, irritable, unkind voice.

So often I sit with patients and I feel into their imbalances and start asking them: how does your body feel when you eat cooked meals? Usually, the answer is AMAZING, but they eat salad because they think it’s healthier. We often go against what our body is asking for because of some BRULES (yes BRULES, stick with me, I will explain!) that we have adopted from someone else’s eating habits. 

Definition of BRULES = BULLSHIT RULES

When I ask patients to tune into their body and choose what they really feel like, something in their energy relaxes because our body knows exactly what we need.

Trust yourself with your choices, - that goes for food, alcohol, caffeine, sugar, everything. The body knows what it needs. I believe our bodies process things WAY better when we are FREE from BRULES.
